The Madea movies came out in this order: Diary of a Mad Black Woman, Madea’s Family Reunion, Meet the Browns, Madea Goes to Jail, I Can Do Bad All by Myself, Madea’s Big Happy Family, Madea’s Witness Protection, A Madea Christmas, Boo! Boo 2! A Madea Halloween! A Madea Family Funeral and A Madea Halloween. Tyler Perry, who made the Madea movies, says that A Madea Family Funeral will be the last one. Perry told the Hollywood Reporter that he wanted to move on from the character that helped make him famous because he wanted to work on other projects.

Perry had a hard childhood, but he turned his life around when, in the 1990s, he started writing plays and putting them on in Atlanta. I Can Do Bad All by Myself was his first play with Madea. It opened in 2000 and was turned into a movie in 2009. Perry, who plays Madea by dressing up like an old woman, says the character is a mix of his own mother and aunt.

Perry wrote the play that became the first Madea movie, Diary of a Mad Black Woman. It tells the story of a wealthy couple who are about to celebrate their 18th wedding anniversary when the husband decides to leave his wife. She gets away from the shocking news by going to her grandmother Madea’s house. 2005 was the year it came out.
