What Is the Difference Between Cherubim and Seraphim?

The primary distinction between cherubim and seraphim is their physical appearance: cherubim have four faces and four wings, while seraphim have six wings. The primary function of both cherubim and seraphim in the Bible is to adore God from the throne.

Several biblical books mention cherubim, including Genesis, Ezekiel, Kings, and Revelations. Their four faces are that of an ox, a lion, a man, and an eagle; however, Ezekiel replaces the ox’s face with that of a cherub. They move quickly by utilising a wheel within a wheel, and their wings cover their entire body.

Seraphim are only mentioned in Isaiah. Their name translates to “scorching ones, flying serpents.” Two of the seraphim’s wings are used for flight. As cherubim, they are angelic beings of the highest degree.
