There have been powerful power-hitters over the years in the history of the Indian Premier League. These players have made hitting a sixes seem like an essential thing any player should achieve.
A team counts itself lucky and at a good point when most of their players can hit the most sixes in a game.
Hitting sixes can come in handy during the death overs or during the power play. For this reason, most teams will always keep their best players till later in the game, then send them in to finish the innings, or sometimes go in as the openers.

1. Chris Gayle
At the top of the list is no other but the most talented and promising player in the league, Gayle. He is one of the strongest hitters and with the most sixes in IPL history.
He has hit 349 sixes since he started playing the Indian Premier League. All these sixes Chris has accumulated by playing 131 innings, and his strike rate is reading at 150.11, which has made the other bowlers fear him.
In his history of IPL, Chris has scored 4772 runs, made six centuries and 31 half-centuries. These records have made his average to read at 41.13.
2. AB de Villiers
De Villiers comes in second on the list for hitting most IPL sixes.
He has recorded hitting 235 sixes, 390 fours, and he has played 156 innings. De Villiers has been trying to reach Gayle, but the champion keeps a safe distance as he does not want another cricketer to get close to his numbers.
Still, this has not stopped AB de Villiers from putting more effort into his game. His dedication has gained him a strike rate of 151.91 per 100 balls.
He has managed to beat Chris’ recorded number of runs as he reads at 4849. He has 38 fifties, 3 tons, and an average of 40.40.
3. MS Dhoni
MS Dhoni is known to be the player with the most sixes among the Indian players who have played in the Indian Premier League. He has hit 216 sixes in just 182 innings, adding to the 313 fours he has.
Dhoni’s average is over 40, while his strike rate is reading at 136.75. Since 2008, he has been the Chennai Super Kings’ captain, and he has overdone himself.
He is known to be one of the most excellent finishers of the match. During the 2011 world cup, he won by hitting a six.
4. Rohit Sharma
At position four of players with the highest six in IPL history is the Mumbai Indians’ captain.
Sharma has a record of hitting 213 sixes in his history of the Indian Premier League. He has also hit 458 fours, and he has recorded a score of 5000 runs in only 195 innings.
For five times, Sharma has let Mumbai Indians victory in the IPL tournaments; this is the most than any other captain in the history of IPL. His average reads at 31.31. He has played 208 matches and 203 innings in the history of IPL.
5. Virat Kohli
Last but not least player who hit the most sixes in IPL is the Indian’s captain Virat. Kohli may be on the top of the list for being the player with the highest run-getters, but he ranks fifth when it comes to the number of sixes made.
His record is at 201 sixes since he started playing the Indian Premier League.
He has played 184 innings, and he also managed to hit 503 fours, bats included. His record of runs seems to be pretty high, 5878, and his average is 38.16 five centuries, and 39 half-centuries included.
Kohli has played a total of 200 matches in the IPL, and he is nicknamed the ‘run Machine.’
