Spring has nearly rolled back around, and you might be thinking ‘but I haven’t started my spring clean!’ Don’t worry, there’s still plenty of time left to get it all done. Here are some easy ways to get inspired for 2022’s spring clean.

1. Get in the Right Mindset

Nobody wants to clean (really). It’s not just you who pushes the housework to the end of the list, because you dread tackling it.

Trust us, we all feel the same too. However, there really is no time like the present, and the best time to get started is now.

It all begins with getting in the right mindset to do the job properly. Instead of thinking ‘this is going to take me hours’, think of something more positive, like how great your home will look once you’ve cleaned it.

Mark a date on your calendar for your spring clean to commence, and then get started.

2. Make a List of the Areas You Want to Target

Writing a list is a clear way of seeing your cleaning goals, and deciding on the areas you want to focus on. Maybe you have a problematic stain on your living room carpets that you can’t seem to get rid of.

This could be just one of your target areas. Start by working out which rooms you want to target first, and go all the way through the rooms in your home in priority order.

This will make your spring clean the most effective it can possibly be, as you have a method in place. It will also be extremely satisfying when you tick an area off your list once you’ve cleaned it.

3. Buy Any Necessary Cleaning Products

You don’t want to be in the position where you’re about to start your spring clean, but you realise you haven’t got enough cleaning supplies to do so. This can be an enemy to your progress.

So, do some preparation. Get a fresh pair of rubber gloves, a new bottle of bleach and a roll of bin bags to ensure nothing is forgotten.

You could even go as far as to stock up on other household items like light bulbs and batteries while you’re at it. New cleaning products could also inspire you to get the motivation to start the spring cleaning process.

4. Begin to Declutter

Now you’ve scheduled your spring clean, in the days leading up to it, start to declutter some of the items in your home.

Clutter will inevitably get in the way of your cleaning process, especially if you have to keep stopping to move items. Decluttering doesn’t have to be as laborious as it seems.

Instead, start with one area within one room. For example, one kitchen drawer – after all, we all have a cluttered drawer, don’t we? By tackling smaller areas it will seem like a smaller task, and therefore will make it easier to complete.

5. Add a Home Fragrance

Once you’ve finished your spring clean, (hopefully) your home will be smelling fresh. However, to give yourself the motivation you need to start, investing in a home fragrance may not be a bad idea.

Nobody wants their home to have a nasty odour, so buying a new candle or room spray could be a good place to start.

The spring clean is all about moving your home through the transition of the seasons. So replace those winter and cinnamon smelling candles, oils and fragrances with something a little lighter, like peppermint or bergamot.

This way your home will not only look stunning, but it will also smell like spring too.

Getting the Whole Family Involved Can Save You Time

Making spring cleaning a family task will not only save you time in the long run, but it can also turn into a fun task. Even the youngest of children can be excellent helpers.

Write them a list of age-appropriate tasks, and as you go on with your tasks, they can be getting on with theirs.

If all else fails, stick on your favorite playlist and have a boogie while you’re completing the spring clean. After all, your favorite song might make a chore more interesting, right?
