This Cognac is supposedly a blend of Eaux-de-vie distilled between 1952 and 1955. The reason for this?

According to my friend who has contacts with those in the industry, usually, they will only sell cognacs produced after 1952 as such wines would not require any further aging (so as not to waste wine).

Any wines aged more than 1955 will be put into barrels again and re-casted before being sold as they’ve already gone through some aging process.

This Cordon Bleu may come from wines produced before 1952 but were not put through the re-casting process and hence labeled as “1952” on the label.
