The Martell Cordon Bleu was first made in 1888 and is still going strong. It is one of the best-known Cognacs and has been enjoyed by many celebrities such as Winston Churchill, Audrey Hepburn, and President Carter.

Henry Royce, who built Rolls-Royce cars, used to give a bottle of this cognac to his customers at Christmas time every year.

The cognac comes with a glass rod that has gold dust around it, which indicates how full or empty their glass is.

Dividing the glass into quarters shows how much they have drunk. If you cut through all four parts and enjoy your drink, there will be no more left for them.

Martell Cordon Bleu should always be served chilled but not with ice. The drink is very smooth and has a slight hint of fruitiness to it. When enjoyed neat the best way, you can taste all three flavors of citrus, vanilla, and oak.

This cognac should also be served at room temperature for tasting purposes because that is how they were initially intended to be drunk by Napoleon himself.

The original retail price of this bottle was $400, and it is usually sold at duty-free shops. It was released in October 1999, and the alcohol content of this Cognac is 40%.

This Cognac is supposedly a blend of Eaux-de-vie distilled between 1952 and 1955. The reason for this?

According to my friend who has contacts with those in the industry, usually, they will only sell cognacs produced after 1952 as such wines would not require any further aging (so as not to waste wine).

Any wines aged more than 1955 will be put into barrels again and re-casted before being sold as they’ve already gone through some aging process.

This Cordon Bleu may come from wines produced before 1952 but were not put through the re-casting process and hence labeled as “1952” on the label.
