This Is How Asians Acknowledge Each Other

Hey, we're the same type of people!

As a minority in a crowded room, what's the arcane code of acknowledging others of a similar ethnicity?

YouTube personality Anna Akana breaks it down for us in a playful video.

While Akana was on set filming for the TV series, "Miss 2059," her African-American co-star, Jasmine Batchelor, asked "hey, so what do Asians do when they see each other?"

The innocent inquiry came out of an earlier exchange when Batchelor made eye-contact with the only other black person in the room and they delivered nods to each other.

After a brief pause, Akana looked at her other co-star, Nikkee SooHoo - who plays Akana's twin - and both answered, "we smile!"

After the jovial epiphany, the actress explores why she smiles during encounters with a fellow Asian. What ensues are a series of amusing vignettes that only the charming filmmaker/actress can deliver: through comedy.
