The Chainsmokers are a very divisive group. While they have legions of screaming fans, they also have many vocal detractors.
Personally, we find their music very addictive. They produce ear worms at a frequency that even earned them a Grammy.
But, we are also not musicians by any stretch of the imagination.
A Twitter user named John Fassold, however, is a musician. And this week he decided to explain how every Chainsmokers song is made.
In the video, Fassold shows us that every Chainsmokers song is essentially three chords. And they're not even vastly different chords, either!
They're usually right beside each other. And the entrancing tunes we hear are the piano "walking" from one chord to the next.
Fassold makes his quick 4-minute instructional session all the funnier by making fun of Chainsmoker song lyrics, which are about "how hard it is being white and in love."
