The vote resulted in a 50-50 tie, which Vice President Mike Pence broke in favor of the Republicans, sending the Bill to the floor for debate. Now, Republicans will have the chance to suggest any amendments they think are necessary before officially voting on the document. Last night, a proposed amendment to put more money into medicaid and allow insurance companies to offer stripped down policies was rejected by the Senate, foreshadowing many arguments to come between the moderate and conservative Republicans within Congress.
