President Trump signed a bill on Thursday that will deny health clinics that perform abortions from receiving Title X family-planning funds. Democrats and women's health advocates believe the signing of the bill will adversely impact low-income women to get the proper health care they need, including birth control and cancer screenings.
Before leaving office, Obama made sure to put into effect a rule that prevented states from discriminating against Planned Parenthood when it distributes funds for family planning services.
Now, Trump just reversed that rule.
So when privileged white men in positions of power make important decisions on behalf of women everywhere, it's a serious point of contention. And the GOP senator from Arizona was about to get an earful.
Frustrated constituent Deja Foxx, 16, stepped up to the mic and addressed her concern to Flake in a manner that elicited boisterous cheers from the room.
Foxx started off by making a clear distinction between herself and Flake. "I just want to state some facts,” she began. “I’m a young woman; you’re a middle-aged man. I’m a person of color, and you’re white."
