Leone Lattes was the forensic serologist who, in 1915, devised a technique for rehydrating dried blood samples for blood type testing. Lattes created a method for detecting blood type from a dry sample in 1932.
In the early 20th century, Leone Lattes was an Italian forensic scientist who conducted research at the Institute of Forensic Medicine in Turin, Italy. In 1901, he released a paper detailing the present method of blood type classification. By 1915, he had successfully created a procedure, the antibody test, for classifying blood samples according to the major blood types.
