To calculate half of any number, divide it by two, in other words multiplying it by ½ regardless if the number is whole or fraction. Hence, multiply 1⅜ by ½ => (1/(⅜))*(½) => (3/8)*(1/2) => 3/16. Hence, half of 1 ⅜ is 3/16.

What will follow after ⅞ mark on the measuring tape?

The mark on a measuring tape begins from 1/16. To know what a mark succeeding represents,  add the number of that particular succeeding mark ahead of the 1/16 mark to its numerator.
