Kelly Herron was in the midst of a 10-mile run in Seattle's Golden Gardens Park when she had to stop to go to the bathroom. She went to use a public restroom, unaware that a registered sex offender followed her inside.
What followed the unwanted pursuit was a brutal altercation between Herron and her attacker. Ultimately, Herron survived the attack and was able to subdue the suspect before alerting authorities.
All the more jarring, the entire occurrence was actually recorded on her Garmin personal fitness tracker.
Jutting red lines zig and zag across the bathroom, showing the terrifying struggle that she had to endure.
Herron wrote on her Instagram:
My biggest running nightmare became reality- 4 miles into my long run Sunday afternoon, I stopped to use the restroom and was assaulted by a man hiding in a stall (that is my GPS in red lines).
I fought for my life screaming("Not today, M**F**er!"), clawing his face, punching back, and desperately trying to escape his grip- never giving up.
