In the live stream, Sanchez says:
I f*****g love my sister to death. I don't give a f***. We about to die. This is the last thing I wanted to happen to us but it just did. Jacqueline, please wake up. This is the last thing I wanted to happen... I killed my sister, but I don't care. I killed my sister. I know I'm going to prison, but I don't care. I'm sorry, baby. I'ma hold it down.... rest in peace, sweetie
Wyatt Foster, a CHP spokesperson, commented that the graphic video was "absolutely" being used as evidence in the investigation and would be presented, along with the CHP report, to the Merced County District Attorney's Office.
Though the other 14-year-old in the car survived, she is checked in at a local hospital for "major leg trauma." One woman who recorded Sanchez's Instagram story before it could disappear commented:
No one wanted to believe it, it was so crazy how desensitized and careless she seemed about someone as close to her as her sister. Who in the right mind continues to record?
She then added:
I think this video can get a lot of people to think twice about using their phones while driving now.
