Action star The Rock is starring in a movie about the world's largest skyscraper engulfed in flames? We're so there!
Dwayne Johnson just whet fans' appetite with his exciting announcement on Instagram.
His pronounced enthusiasm is infectious, but moviegoers are going to have to wait two years until this epic adventure ignites theaters.
Skyscraper is written and directed by Central Intelligence scribe Rawson Marshall Thurber, and Universal Studios announced its July 13, 2018 release date.
Johnson teased us with details about the film focusing on the world's largest skyscraper that's on fire. The setup is "A towering inferno almost a mile into the sky and my wife and kids are trapped on the top floor," he said.
It will be a 3D action thriller that will surely make audiences feel heat from the epic conflagration.
Johnson's character will be a disabled war vet and an FBI Hostage Rescue Team leader. Although which disability Johnson's character will have isn't specified, portraying a character with physical challenges is a welcomed representation in Hollywood for increasing awareness of those who have served and suffered.
"This character is inspired by the thousands of disabled US veterans and war heroes I’ve had the honor of shaking hands with over the years," he said on his post, and "This character is also an homage to the every day man and woman who, despite all odds, will dig deep and do everything possible to protect and save their family."
