The fire continued to rage, and before long the stage became engulfed in flames. Some chose to stay and film, even though the area was being evacuated.
Fortunately, all 22,000 festival-goers were safely evacuated away from the raging inferno. There were no fatalities, and 20 people were treated for minor injuries. The process was peaceful and orderly, and firefighters were able to put out the fire within an hour.
Unite with Tomorrowland has released an official statement.
"Tonight, July 29th 2017, the UNITE Barcelona stage caught fire due to a technical malfunction. Thanks to the professional intervention of the authorities all 22.000 visitors were evacuated safely and without reports of injuries.
