As the clock ticks down to the vote on tax reform the American people are slowly learning tidbits about what rests in the fine print. The latest update includes a dead horse the Republicans refuse to stop beating.
It appears that the new Senate GOP tax bill will include the repeal of... the ObamaCare mandate.
On Tuesday Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) declared that the Senate tax bill will include language to repeal ObamaCare’s individual mandate, which could be an issue for moderate Republicans to support.
Conservatives Senators Ted Cruz (Texas), Rand Paul (Ky.) and Tom Cotton (Ark.) pushed vigorously for the provision, which would eliminate the federal penalty on people who do not purchase health insurance. President Trump is also a staunch fan of the provision.
Those wily GOPers always have a few tricks up there sleeves!!
Mitch McConnell spoke to the media on the matter.
“We’re optimistic that inserting the individual mandate repeal would be helpful and that’s obviously the view of the Senate Finance Committee Republicans as well."
Senator John Thune (S.D.), who is the Senate's No. 3 Republican, told reporters there has been a whip count and he is confident Republicans can pass a tax bill that includes a measure to repeal the mandate.
This little secret gem did NOT go unnoticed by Twitter.

Hey, while we're all jumping on Moore and Sessions, the GOP is trying a fourth time to repeal the ACA this year by pretending its a tax reform bill.— Patrick S. Tomlinson (@stealthygeek) November 14, 2017
It's not. It's designed to take health coverage away from 13 million Americans and give the money to the rich.#SoylentGreenbacks
Maybe they thought those opposed couldn't read. Always look at the black and white.
Throwing millions off healthcare while pushing a shaky tax bill through doesn't bold well for the party as a whole.
