It is believed the only reason HBO is not going forward with another sequel to the massively successful series is due to the demands of actress, Kim Cattrall or as she is better known, Samantha.

American Horror Story and Glee creator Ryan Murphy has come up with a solution that could get cameras rolling, he says "it’s pretty simple: “Recast Samantha!”

“I don’t get it!” stated the veteran producer with a chuckle, talking about claims that Cattrall's contract demands suffocated the film's life.

While in conversation with TV critic Emily Nussbaum at The New Yorker Festival on Saturday Murphy said “Look, I would be very devastated if I created something cultural like that and 95 percent of the team said, ‘Let’s do it,’ but there was a hold on it. I don’t blame Kim Cattrall though.”

Ryan's idea of recast or kill off the character set off a firestorm.

Even the mere 'suggestion' has sent fans into ferocious overdrive!

Cattrall has spoken out saying that she had hoped the new film would treat Samantha better than the prior feature films.

The actress' camp said “She was willing to have a conversation, but she needed to hear something she hasn’t heard before — namely, that they would treat her character with some dignity and respect — and they wouldn’t even engage in that sort of discussion.”

Murphy told the crowd of his emotional connection to the hit HBO comedy. “They meant something to me – they were important and cultural in changing the discussion of women and sexuality."

Time will tell what Sarah Jessica Parker and the girls came make happen. Maybe Ryan is right and there are options. Some fans had suggestions as well.

No matter the outcome I say :

"Cheers to the girls!"
