Vladimir Putin's American presidency is growing in popularity among the GOP power players. Alabama State Senate hopeful and 'alleged child predator' Judge Roy Moore seems to be okay with the idea of becoming one of Putin's new BFFs.
Don't be jealous Donald, there is plenty of vodka for everybody.
In an interview with The Guardian this past summer good ole Roy --a hardcore Republican and religious conservative-- who is running a ferocious and sordid campaign for the Alabama Senate seat, took a swipe at the country he claims to love so much.
During his interview he chastised America for promoting “a lot of bad things,” and then lauded Russian President Vladimir Putin.
In the interview, which is being publicly revived due to the sensationalized coverage of Moore's campaign, The Guardian quoted President Ronald Reagan--or as the GOP remembers him "KING Ronald Reagan"-- as once insisting that the Soviet Union was “the focus of evil in the modern world.”
The statement was delivered during President Reagan's now infamous 1983 “Evil Empire” speech.
Moore's response to The Guardian's question?
“You could say that very well about America, couldn't you? We promote a lot of bad things.”
Observe coverage below. (Roy jumps in around 4:35)
For Moore and many of his conservative supporters and colleagues it always seems to boil down to same-sex marriage.
He and Putin hold very similar beliefs on same-sex marriage, which they believe is one of the world's greater evils.
When asked about he and Putin holding similar ideas, Moore gave a bit of a controversial answer.
“Well, then maybe Putin is right,” Moore said. “Maybe he’s more akin to me than I know.”
Twitter has devoured this interview like a frozen Stoli Cosmo.
In a video eerily similar to Trump's "you think our country's so innocent?" interview, Roy Moore agrees with Putin. Claims same-sex marriage is a reason America is a focus of evil in the world— Rantt News (@RanttNews) December 8, 2017

Even a staunch member of the GOP has to see that Moore's thoughts don't exactly scream "patriot."
The race for Alabama comes down to this Monday, December 11th. There is time to get to know the Democrat running. Doug Jones. He is an option.
Just a thought!
What we don’t need is another Trump Mini-me in Alabama or anywhere for that matter! One Putin admirer in our government is one too many. Alabama RESIST!!— boom shakalaka (@boom_shaka1aka) December 8, 2017
