This past Thursday night, President Trump and first lady Melania lit the National Christmas tree outside of the White House. And though the 95th annual lighting itself went off without a hitch, photographs taken from the back of the event look like the attendance was... well lets just say it wasn't a sold out gig.
Several Twitter users shared photographs that show dozens upon dozens of empty chairs.
That is definitely a vast difference from tree lightings past. Especially Obama's.
Now exact attendance at past events are not set in stone BUT... one must admit, pictures don't lie.
And there were plenty of thoughts and pictures online.
I have a friend who works for a federal agency and she had 8 tickets she was trying to give away.— Evan Robertson (@evanrobertsonDC) December 1, 2017
And it’s crazy too because in previous years it practically impossible to get tickets. If you didn’t win them in the lottery, you weren’t going.— Evan Robertson (@evanrobertsonDC) December 1, 2017
