Mom uses "Bad Parenting" excuse For Kid's Tardiness

I remember in high school I was consistently late for my first-period Spanish class. While ordinarily, I couldn’t wait to “ir a clase para practicar mi español,” sometimes I just needed my comfy, warm bed for fifteen minutes more in the morning.

This extra bedtime meant I needed an excuse for school. I would hurriedly call my mom and tell her I needed her to call the school to tell them I was going to be late-- again. She did this about twenty times until her patience ran thin. I’m sure her excuses ranged from “he’s sick” to “he’s almost dead” to “he’s dead.” Whatever they were, they worked, and I never got into any trouble. Thanks, Mom!

Let's face it, being late usually is the student's fault. They goofed off in the morning and didn't pay attention to the time, or in my case, just wanted some more sleep. But sometimes the blame falls squarely on the parent. Like with this mom who felt honesty was the best way to explain her kid’s tardiness. Sure, she could have given some lame excuse that her car had broken down, but this way was much more truthful... and hilarious.

Reddit user Colieoh shared the picture saying it was from a friend who dropped her kids off late at school. The photograph has now been shared across the internet. The user did not provide the reason that her friend was running late, what school it was written for, or if it was real, but the sentiment is just as good. The photo has garnered some funny responses of people reminiscing about their “late” moments in life...   Reddit user ‘ImNobbodyFromNowhere’ writes:
My junior and senior years of high school, I would drive a few friends to and from school each day. I'd get us there late at least 2-3 times a week typically, which was supposed to result in a detention after around a half dozen times then increasing punishment at intervals beyond that. After that first half dozen or so times, the vice principal called me in, and after a few minutes of discussion he had determined that he didn't want to punish the other people I drove for me making them late, but he couldn't punish me without leaving the others stranded for a ride, so he pretty much just blew it off from that point forward.

From user blaxploitation:
I normally make up monster attacked the car stories for my daughter. There is more room for creative stories on the forms at her school. Teachers must get bored as hell with this rubbish.

We lived like 2 cities away and my mom was the absolute worst at dropping me off on time. I think I was late more than on time in the 12 years of school and I would always always get detention. My school would start at 8:15am and my mom worked down the street and would start at 9:00am so if she dropped me off late to class she would still make it early to work. Hence why I was always late. Absolute bullshit.
