Michael Moore: A regular Cassandra?
He did predict a Trump win, for starters. Moore was correct about the way Donald Trump would appeal to the disenfranchised voters in the Rust Belt and voters in valuable swing states. Since then, Moore has issued a call to Democrats urging them to change their strategies if they wish to reclaim seats in Congress and win the White House in 2020. His five point analysis on why Trump would win is a treasure trove of information in hindsight.
But Moore has also been a vocal critic of Trump's actions in light of Russian meddling in last year's election. Trump's statements have continued to raise questions about his Russian ties and continued affinity for Moscow despite the concerns of 17 intelligence agencies that Russian interference has heightened geopolitical tensions.
This week, Moore took to his personal Twitter account to air his grievances amid revelations that Michael Flynn, Trump's former national security advisor, was vulnerable to Russian blackmail. Flynn turned in his resignation on Monday. On Tuesday, the New York Times reported that intercepted phone calls linked Trump advisors to Russian intelligence.
Moore went to town.
Flynn was colluding w/ a foreign gov't accused of helping throw the election 2 Trump, promising them they would be taken care of. Arrest him.— Michael Moore (@MMFlint) February 14, 2017
Let's be VERY clear: Flynn DID NOT make that Russian call on his own. He was INSTRUCTED to do so.He was TOLD to reassure them. Arrest Trump.— Michael Moore (@MMFlint) February 14, 2017
That last bit? You can imagine how Trump responded to the news responded to the news reports. But you don't have to, because his response is right here:
The real story here is why are there so many illegal leaks coming out of Washington? Will these leaks be happening as I deal on N.Korea etc?— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) February 14, 2017
