The London Dungeon's recent Valentine's campaign really hit a nerve.
The nearly 40-year-old attraction is London's spook-house through the city's macabre history and violent mythology that includes encounters with the likes of Jack the Ripper and Sweeney Todd.
The 110 minute journey guarantees an experience that could make the hair on the back of your neck rise. However, outside its doors, the Dungeon's recent promotion made quite a few tempers rise.
The attraction's Twitter and Facebook promoted their "Dark Valentine" campaign that was deemed sexist and misogynistic by a vast majority of the public.
All of the quotes praised women killers like Jack the Ripper, femicide, killing co-workers, and fat-shaming in the guise of a joke in line with their gallows humor.
But nobody was laughing.
The campaign caused a huge backlash which forced the Dungeon to remove their despicable posts.
Warning: These are hugely offensive.
The most controversial post was this one, and was the first to be taken down from their website.
Other posts deviated from the criminal-historical context to fat-shame women. Did they really think this campaign could take off?
Now there's no way around this compliment anymore.
Among those that condemned London's Dungeon was this prominent feminist institution.
