An apparent feud between Ed Sheeran's "Sheerios" and Lady Gaga's "Little Monsters" has upset the British pop star.
In fact, it has Ed Sheeran contemplating quitting Twitter, due to some recent unpleasantness.
"I’ve actually come off Twitter completely. I can’t read it. I go on it and there’s nothing but people saying mean things. Twitter’s a platform for that," he told The Sun. "One comment ruins your day. But that’s why I’ve come off it."
Here he is, "reppin for July 4th." No doubt for his American fans.
While his Twitter has a following of almost 20 million followers, the Shape of You artist seems to populate it with automatic updates from his Instagram account.
But there is a reason Lady Gaga is loved the world over. She personally defended the artist and called for peace among their respective fans.
"What an incredible talented artist I LOVE ED," Lady Gaga posted on an Instagram photo of them together. "@edsheeran deserves all our love and respect like all humans do. I wish all people on the internet would be positive and loving and apart of creating an online community that is kind and empowering, not hateful and mean. No reason to tear down an artist simply because they are on top. Work harder to be kinder everybody. That should be your first duty to humanity."
He said he would still read commentary from fans, saying the commentary on The Sun's website was generally positive.
It makes sense Lady Gaga would come to his aid. She is an ally to many disenfranchised/bullied groups, especially the LGBT community and misunderstood youth, in general.
