Political commentator and MSNBC host, Joy Reid, took to Twitter to lay down some hard truths for Senate Majority leader Mitch McConnell. She wanted him to know we've all seen how this plays out on the other side and the horizon isn't bright.
Poor Mitch, it seems with every passing Presidential tweet team McConnell continues to hemorrhage support.
Heading into the 2018 elections, only one Republican Senate candidate nationwide has pledged to back Mitch McConnell as majority leader. Most Republicans are facing stiff competition in the next round of primaries so they need to strategize carefully.
Even though some support his political savvy and fundraising abilities, they realize they cannot afford to ignore his sinking approval ratings both with Republicans and the wider electorate.
It can be lonely at the top.
Several leading candidates are outright spurning him while others are dodging questions about his leadership or threatening to oppose him if the GOP Congress doesn't finally deliver on the party's legislative priorities, and soon.
Ms. Reid points out how difficult it is to feel sorry for Mitch as he did all of the same actions for the 8 years Obama was in office, and did all he could to turn Nancy Pelosi into her party's scapegoat.
Karma is a bitter pill to swallow.
Twitter shared some thoughts with Joy as well.

I was not raised to hate or despise people, even sometimes those who deserve it. I was raised to love and help anyone in need. But I DESPISE and HATE McConnell. He is a cynic, despicable, most destructive person that has ever LIVED in this country. /1— Yemboado Ouoba (@youoba) November 26, 2017
Most egregious was that as majority leader he did not allow a vote on Merrick Garland to be justice of the Supreme Court. Extremely destructive to representative democracy in the United States that often seems to hang by a thread.— Stephen Landau (@SRLscriber) November 26, 2017
Karma is real. What goes around comes around..I just wish the rest of us didn't have to suffer along with all of it.— (((Judy Blue ))) (@judydchandler) November 26, 2017
McConnell DOES NOT have a single achievement he can point to. NADA. NONE. All he is good at is manufacturing crises and going around trying to broker some kind of “kicking the can down the road” solution and repeat over and over and over. What a miserable guy. /3— Yemboado Ouoba (@youoba) November 26, 2017
It's all about simple truths.
