Ivanka Trump joined German Chancellor Angela Merkel at the W20 Summit this past week... and it didn't go well.
Women's entrepreneurship was the topic of the roundtable that Ivanka joined on her trip. According to reporters who were there, the questions she received were blunt, and the response she received was anything but positive.
It probably didn't help matters that she defended her father and alleged that he's a man who respects women. It's almost as if she assumed no one in Germany has a television, or ears, or eyes.
The moderator began the exchange with:
"You’re the first daughter of the United States, and you’re also an assistant to the president. The German audience is not that familiar with the concept of a first daughter. I’d like to ask you, what is your role, and who are you representing, your father as president of the United States, the American people, or your business?"
To be fair, not many Americans are used to a "First Daughter," either.
