The New York Times is hardly suffering, as Trump put it, "a failing reputation." Ever since Trump was elected president, digital subscriptions for the Times increased to over 276,000 in the last quarter of 2016.
To date, the New York Times has 3 million online subscribers. CEO Mark Thompson pointed out, "There has been an uptick in people's willingness to pay."
The Times was one of several news organizations banned from attending a formal briefing at the White House by Sean Spicer on Friday. Access to the "gaggle," however, was given to other organizations that represent more conservative outlets.
Head of the Fox News election decision desk, Arnon Mishkin, believes that the Times ad was a good investment.
