Forbes isn't the only publication tracking Trump's wealth either.
Fortune and Bloomberg offered their own lower estimates. For example, Bloomberg's second annual estimate concluded that Trump is worth $3 billion, up slightly from the $2.9 million they estimated last year.
The Forbes list came out the same day Trump met with Bill Gates, who, according to the magazine, is the world's richest man for the fourth straight year.
Gates met Trump after Trump announced he would seek cuts to foreign aid. Gates criticized the president in an article, saying the cuts he envisions in his budget proposal would make the country "less safe."
White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer said the two spoke about their “shared commitment to finding and stopping disease outbreaks around the world.”
Sarah Logan, a spokeswoman for the Gates Foundation, said “Bill will meet with members of the administration and congressional leaders to discuss the tremendous progress made to-date in these areas and the critical and indispensable role that the United States has played in achieving these gains."
