Peta Murgatroyd just dispelled the myths of pregnancy beautifully.
After she and fiancé Maksim Chmerkovskiy welcomed their new baby boy, Shai, into the world, the Dancing With the Stars celeb snapped a mirror selfie.
Wearing nothing but a bra and leggings, there was nothing self-gratuitous about the photo-snap. She showed us the reality of a body recovering after birth.
And we love her courage and transparency for sharing with us her powerful message.
With the media's obsession over how a woman should look post-pregnancy, the celeb dancer set the record straight in one fell swoop.
On her Instagram post, she explained:
Real life: I took this photo 8 days post birth. I left the hospital looking 5 months pregnant. Many people think a woman should shrink right back to her pre-birth weight immediately. That is just not the truth for most.
We never see photos of how women look after giving birth, which only pressures new mothers to restore their bodies back to a "normal" state as quickly as possible.

The female body is incredible and resilient, but healing and strengthening take time. Now it's time for patience and hard work. Lots of love to all the new mamas out there on the journey.
Thank you Peta, for your reminder that there should be no post-birth shaming when it comes to the miracle of birth. We wish the couple well.
And welcome to our world Shai Aleksander!
