Politico reported back in May that Republican Representative Jason Chaffetz would be resigning from Congress before the end of the term, and speculated that he might join Fox News.
Now, the conservative news channel has confirmed the suspicions.
In a statement, Fox News said that Chaffetz, who is set to resign on June 30th, would be joining the news channel on July 1st as a contributor.
Chaffetz recently told The Hill that he believes members of Congress should get a monthly housing stipend of $2,500, acknowledging that he was leaving Congress "partly" because of money.
"If you're not a multimillionaire, you got dozens and dozens of us that can't afford two mortgages, kids in college and other types of things," he told Fox News. "It's very expensive in Washington, D.C."
The comments have come under a bit of scrunity, since Chaffetz famously said in March that poverty-stricken citizens should choose not to spend money on "that new iPhone that they just love," but instead spend it on their own healthcare, lending to the idea that poverty is a choice.
