Ruby first became an internet sensation before she was even born. Her mother, Cher Lair, literally fell to the ground with excitement after learning she was having a girl. Cher and her husband, Stephen, already had six boys to take care of, but they wanted a baby girl to complete the family. Well now, over a year later, Ruby is celebrating her first birthday. The family threw a huge, pink birthday bash in their Apex, NC home. From Yahoo News:
"We were a touch excessive, but we usually are for first birthday parties," Lair said. "We had about 60 people here at our house. About half were kids and it was kind of nuts. We required everyone in my care to dress in pink. We were in pink for the 'Ruby girl.'" All six boys donned pink outfits for their little sister and three of them bought Ruby birthday presents with their own money, Lair said.
The six boys are Jackson, 14, Campbell, 11, Sawyer, 8, Houston, 6, Shepherd, 5 and Knox, 3. Here is the whole family together dressed in their pinkest attire for little Ruby.

Not all of the boys were initially excited to finally have a girl in the family. Houston, the middle child, had some reservations when the parents had the gender reveal a year ago.

"Houston said he was terrified of all the pink at the gender reveal. He was the one that ran away," mom told ABC News. "He sat under a table for the rest of the night and was like, 'Don't let anybody talk to me.' he thinks she’s so pretty. He says, 'Oh, mommy, she's so cute.'

“At night, they all hug and kiss her before bedtime. They'll arm wrestle over who gets Ruby. She will try to say something and, of course, they try to coach her on saying their names.'"
