There's enough stress surrounding a couple on their wedding day. Why would anyone make it worse by trying to make it about them? 

That question is being thrown around a lot over a recent letter sent to Slate's Dear Prudence problem page where a couple details how their best friends upstaged them at their $80,000 wedding.

According to the letter, written by the bride, she and her now husband dated, got pregnant, moved in together, bought a house, and got a dog, in that order. Finally, under familial pressure, they decided to tie the knot.

And that's where things go awful. "John", the husband's best man and wedding officiator, decided to take the wedding ceremony in a different direction and propose to his own girlfriend, "Jane", and announce her pregnancy. According to the bride's letter:

So after dropping $80,000, the couple had their special moment stolen by their best friends.
